About Us
At Apocalypse, we believe your gear should support your experiences, not distract from them.
The brand started in Jackson, Wyoming with our founder Gavin Hess. As he learned to move through the Tetons, Gavin developed a passion for big backcountry outings and an appreciation for efficient travel. During a rainy off-season, he found himself with an abundance of time and a lack of money, and he began tinkering with sewing his own gear.
After a few years of constantly refining his craft, ski partners started asking Gavin to build them a pack. Slowly, a community of mountain athletes began to grow, seeking gear built with a clear intention and shaped by significant time spent in the field. What started as a personal project grew into what is now known as Apocalypse Equipment. Simple. Reliable. Thoughtful. Purpose-built.
Apocalypse was born to serve the needs of Gavin, his partners, and other like-minded skiers and climbers. While our products have evolved, the foundational mindset remains the same: strip features down to what matters and make gear well, so “things” can fade into the background and the experience stays at the forefront.
We build efficient mountain gear. Everything is made with intention, from the stitching to the stories we tell. We focus on solving problems for a community that’s paying attention to the right things.
We believe in a respect for nature and the connection between people. We strive to operate with humility, transparency, and a focus on community over ego.
This isn’t gear for the masses. It’s for those who want to move lightly, think clearly, and focus on what gets us out the door every day: grand adventures in beautiful places with great friends.
Thanks for joining us.
