Features

Bleed Management

  • Wound closure strips
  • North American Rescue CAT Tourniquet
  • Hemostatic dressing
  • 4" Pressure bandage

This equipment is selected to manage major bleeds in the backcountry when used correctly.

The wound closure strips covered with Leukotape also make an excellent dressing for smaller lacerations.

Airway Management

  • Pre-lubricated 28Fr Nasopharyngeal airway (NPA)
  • CPR mask (must be added separately)

An NPA is a critical tool for managing an unstable airway in a single-partner rescue scenario.

The CPR mask helps create a better seal around the patient’s face, allowing for more effective rescue breaths.

Learn how to use both tools, and consider carrying additional NPA sizes to match the dimensions of your backcountry partners.

Hyperthermia & Shock Manegement

  • Reflective emergency blanket
  • 5"x3.5" adhesive backed body warmers

These simple tools may be the most important when managing a backcountry emergency, where exposure is a leading cause of fatalities.

We suggest pairing these tools with the T.A.R.P., sleeping pads, and extra layers to create an effective patient packaging system.

Tools and Misc.

  • Paper & Pencil
  • Trauma shears
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Empty medication container
  • BIC Mini lighter & fire starter
  • 2" x 5 yds elastic bandage
  • 1m of Leukotape (wrapped around lighter)

Stay protected, document incidents, keep warm, and manage a range of minor issues—like sprains, blisters, and small bleeds—with this equipment.

We’ve come to prefer Leukotape over traditional moleskin for blister management, but there’s room in the kit for you to add your preferred solution.

Training

This kit is as effective as you are. Please take a wilderness first aid course and learn how to effectively deploy these tools.
